Lascaux Co. was founded in February 2011 by Khoi Vinh and Scott Ostler. Its goal is to combine social software and creativity to let people from all walks of life express themselves creatively.
Khoi is a designer, writer and entrepreneur. For five years he was digital design director for The New York Times, and in 2010 he published the influential book “Ordering Disorder.” He lectures around the world on user experience, and writes the widely-read design and technology blog Subtraction.com.
Scott is a developer, coder and co-founder of the real-time image sharing site dump.fm. He received both a Bachelors and a Masters of Engineering in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Akiva Leffert has been a developer since he programmed LEGO cars to destroy each other at age ten. Later in life, he received a more formal Computer Science education at Carnegie Mellon University. After graduation, he spent several years developing iOS software at Apple out in California. Now, he lives in New York where he's excited to have seasons again.
Roy began as an artist working in sculpture and photography in New York in 2003. His interest in design started while making websites and print catalogs for several NY art galleries. More recently, Roy has been designing websites and mobile apps for several social sites. You can find him at mmmmmmmmmmmmmimic.net
Our investors include Betaworks, Polaris Venture Partners and others. We are also the beneficiaries of a 2010 TechFellow award from Founders Fund and New Enterprise Associates.
